Is the Live Text not working in iOS 16 on your iPhone? Then check out this guide for some troubleshooting tips to get the feature working again. With Live Text enabled on your iPhone, you can select and copy text from any image you see on the iPhone. You can use the corresponding text with the image to know more about it or any related item.
If Live Text is not working for your iPhone, the concerned model may not be supporting the feature. Also, you cannot use it unless you enable it. A temporary bug may be causing a few features, including Live Text.
1. Enable Live Text Feature
Usually, the Live Text feature is highlighted by two blue pointers that enclose the selected text segment on an image. To use the feature, you must enable it from the general settings of iOS 16.
- Launch Settings > General and tap on it.
- Navigate to Language & Region and tap on it.
- Next, scroll to Live Text and tap on the switch beside it to enable the feature.
2. Restart the iPhone
A simple, mandatory troubleshooting method for any technical glitch is restarting the iPhone.
- Long press the Side button to initiate the shutdown.
- On the next screen, tap on Slide to Power Off.
- After a few seconds, again, press the power button to turn the iPhone on.
- Now, access the camera roll and open any image.
- Long-press the text portion on any image to see if the blue pointers highlight it. If they do, it means the feature is now working.
3. Does Your iPhone Support Live Text?
If your iPhone is loaded with an A12 Bionic chipset or later processor versions, then Live Text is supported. More precisely, the Live Text feature in iOS 16 is available for iPhone 11/12/13/14, iPhone SE 2nd/3rd Gen, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS/XS Max.

4. Change the iPhone Language
The Live Text feature is only supported for a few languages, including Chinese, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, and English. If the text on the image is not one of these languages, then the feature won’t work.
Try to change the language to any of the supported languages. Here is how to do it.
- Go to Settings > General > Language and Region.
- Tap on Add language.
- Set the supported language.
- Now, check if the Live Text is working or not.
5. Force close the App and Launch Again
If you cannot select a text section from an image in an app, force-close the app.
- Launch the app switcher by tapping twice on the iPhone’s touch ID.
- For iPhones without Touch ID, swipe up from the bottom and stop at the middle of the screen to bring up the app switcher.
- Please navigate to the conflicting app, hold and swipe up the app card to close it.
- Launch the app again.
