How Foam Ear Tips Made AirPods Pro More Comfortable and Quality

If you own AirPods Pro, you already know about the excellent sound quality they deliver. But what if I told you that there’s a simple way to make your experience with these headphones even better? By adding foam ear tips, you can significantly improve both comfort and sound quality.

If you’ve never thought about changing the ear tips on your Apple AirPods Pro, you’re not alone, mainly because there aren’t any other options. Price and availability

The KeyBuds HyperFoam ear tips retail for $29.95 and are available through the KeyBudz website, as well as Amazon and other retailers. They only come in one color scheme, a black with green accents that doesn’t quite fit in with the all-white aesthetic of the AirPods Pro.

When it comes to compatibility, the foam ear tips work with both the first and second generation Apple AirPods Pro, so any version currently available at the time of writing is compatible. The standard AirPods don’t use removable ear tips, so they’re not compatible.

Getting Started with KeyBudz HyperFoam: It's Easy

I’m no stranger to swapping out connection points on audio products, whether it’s the earbuds on your headphones or the tips on your earbuds. In many cases, installing and removing foam ear tips can be a little tricky, as they’re a bit more fragile than the silicone tips that many earbuds come with by default. That’s not the case with the AirPods Pro or the KeyBudz HyperFoam.

The tips are easily detachable from the second generation AirPods Pro, and the HyperFoam tips are also easily detachable. There are three sizes to choose from: small, medium, and large. The detachable and attachable nature of these tips makes it easy to swap out sizes until you find the perfect fit.

Comfort is one of the main selling points of the HyperFoam tips. I never found the first or second generation AirPods Pro uncomfortable, but these tips have definitely upped the comfort level quite a bit, with a much more comfortable feel in my ears.

I was initially worried about crushing the foam ear tips while keeping them in the case, but with the medium tip size that works best for me, that wasn’t a problem. Just to test the larger size, I swapped them out and left them in the case overnight, but they were still intact when I checked them in the morning.

The sound has improved somewhat, but the noise cancellation has become more effective.

Whenever I switch earbuds or eartips, I always notice some change in the sound, either for better or worse. In the case of the KeyBudz HyperFoam, there was a definite improvement in sound, but it was subtle. Most of the changes I noticed came from a slightly improved low-end response, perhaps from a tighter fit.

Fleetwood Mac’s “Walk A Thin Line” is a frequent test track I turn to, and the sound sounded just as spacious with the KeyBudz as it does with the standard eartips. However, I did notice that the HyperFoam tips gave the song a fuller low-end range.

Sun Ra’s “There Are Other Worlds (They Haven’t Told You Of)” sounds as otherworldly as ever, but the bass and low-pitched horns stand out more than the original ear tips. Again, it’s a subtle but positive change.

While I noticed some subtle changes for the better when it came to sound quality, the differences were most noticeable in terms of noise cancellation. Even with all the AirPods Pro processors turned off, I noticed more passive isolation from the foam ear tips. With ANC enabled, the differences were even more noticeable, improving the already strong cancellation.

While I did notice a difference in terms of ANC and passive isolation, Transparency mode remained unchanged. This was more or less what I expected, but it’s worth noting that the foam ear tips didn’t negatively impact Transparency mode’s performance in any noticeable way. Should you buy the KeyBudz HyperFoam?

If you've had trouble finding a comfortable fit or not getting the noise canceling performance you're looking for, KeyBudz HyperFoam Excellent product for solving problems. However, even if you are completely satisfied with the AirPods Pro, it is still absolutely worth a try. Before I tried them, I was skeptical, but after trying them myself, I do not plan to go back to the original ear tips.

At around $30, they’re not particularly expensive, and they’re even easier to replace than standard earbud tips.
