1. Apple Watch App

The easiest way to track your time at work is with the official Clock app that comes built into your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. Since I use my MacBook and iPad so often, I use the Clock app. Best | Track My Time 2 | 097d178b6d51bf89247e7a6447ce63f4 DzTechs The app helps me set stricter timelines when I need to get something done, and I get a notification when the time is up. I will also use the timer in the Clock app. Best | Track My Time 2 | 097d178b6d51bf89247e7a6447ce63f4 DzTechs If I want to take timed breaks.

Hint: To quickly access the Clock, click Time in the menu bar on your Mac, then click the Clock widget.

If you want to know how long you spend on a task, you can use the Stopwatch feature: You can measure the duration of an event using the Stopwatch.

  1. In the “Clock” app Best | Track My Time 5 | 097d178b6d51bf89247e7a6447ce63f4 DzTechsclick the stopwatch at the top of the window (or choose View -> Stopwatch). To switch between digital and analog faces, choose عرض -> عرض ساعة إيقاف رقمية or Stopwatch display with hands.
  2. tap on Getting startedThe timing continues even if you open another app or if your Mac goes to sleep.
  3. To record a round or split, you can click on a round.
  4. Click Stop to record the last time.
  5. Click Reset to clear the stopwatch or click start again To restart the stopwatch from where it left off.

The app is flexible, free, easy to use, and requires no download. As far as I'm concerned, it makes sense to start here.

Don’t worry if you don’t have an Apple device; the Clock app on Windows 11 has some great productivity features too. You can also use Clock timers on your iPhone or iPad to help keep track of your work time.

2. Brite

Brite It’s another productivity app I’ve used extensively, and I’ve written in the past about why you should organize your day with Brite. One of its underrated features is its Pomodoro timer. Despite its name, you can use it as a general timer to break up your work windows each day — not just for the Pomodoro technique.

Brite’s timer lets you choose intervals ranging from five minutes to an hour. Just press the start button and the time will start running down. If you want to keep your timer within the same app that you split up your other tasks into, Brite is a great option. Even without a premium subscription, you’ll have access to it. You’ll also see how much time is left on your timer in the browser tab header.

If you want to subscribe to Brite Premium, it will cost you $3.29 per month (annually) and $4.50 per month. You can also go a step further than just planning your day and plan your entire week in the Brite app. Check out the best event planning apps for Android and iOS.

3. Notion Pomodoro Timer

does not contain Notion It has a built-in timer, but you can download a custom template. I've personally found that Minimal Pomodoro Tracker It is the most effective. This timer allows you to divide your work into 25-minute intervals, and after each session, you can rest and recover before starting again. You can choose whether you want a short break (five minutes) or a long break (15 minutes).

When using this template, you will also find a simple task tracker. Here, you can specify how much time you will need for each project. Furthermore, you can set the priority level and set clear instructions to ensure that everything required is completed.

While you’re working and the timer is running, you can also listen to low-pitched music within the template. So, if you’re prone to switching between apps, you might find this a worthwhile alternative. You might want to consider using other Notion templates for your productivity routine to make your work or study day more effective.

4. Clockify

Clockify This is another great app to track your time at work, especially if you get paid by the hour. You can set up a timer to track your total time and determine how much of that time you can charge, along with how much you should be paid. You can use project names and descriptions so you don’t lose track of what you’re working on.

With Clockify, you also get access to reports that show you how many billable hours you’ve worked over different periods. This information is displayed in pie and bar charts. Another useful feature is the built-in calendar that you can use to add dates to tasks. With tags, you can also differentiate each task in the way you feel is necessary.

Clockify also lets you add hours and more manually—just switch from timer to manual and select the plus (+) icon. More advanced features, like vacations and task rates, are available with a paid plan, but you don’t really need them if you’re just tracking your time. 5. Toggl

Toggl It’s an easy-to-use time tracking app that lets you pinpoint exactly what you’re working on. You can tag the project you want to tag via the Add Project option and use labels to organize your time more effectively. One of the best things about Toggl is that you can start and stop tracking whenever you need to take a break. The app also integrates well with Apple Calendar.

When you complete a timer session, you’ll see it listed with the total time you spent on your project. In the meantime, the Pomodoro timer will give you a default 25 minutes to work before you take a break. However, you can customize your focus and rest times to better fit your schedule and needs.

Toggl has stats that show you your total billable hours and projected earnings. If you have old timelines from elsewhere, you can add them into the app manually. Like Clockify, Toggl has paid subscriptions, but the free plan is more than enough unless you’re working as part of a large agency.

Does it matter which time tracking app you use?

If you’re just interested in tracking your time to see how long you’ve been working on a task or to schedule breaks, you should go with what’s easiest for you. For me, Apple’s Clock app is great for this. However, if you need additional features — like splitting up tasks — you should use an app that has those features (like Toggl or Clockify).

You should also consider which productivity apps you use, and whether you want to keep everything in one place. Personally, I think this is a good idea as it can significantly reduce switching between apps. In these cases, either look for a productivity app that has a timer or integrate a dedicated module if possible. Check out the best time blocking apps to boost your productivity.
