As AI tools become more and more widely used in natural conversations, users are opting for solutions that offer a better experience and are more aligned with their needs. While ChatGPT is efficient in many areas, some may find that there are alternatives that offer additional features or performance that exceed expectations. In my experience, I discovered a new tool that outperforms ChatGPT in several aspects, including accuracy of answers and providing advanced features that better meet my needs.
Let’s get to the point: I switched from ChatGPT to Claude. It’s not that ChatGPT isn’t good, it is. But for my needs, Claude has some features that make a real difference in my daily life. Here are the main reasons I made the switch… Check out these advanced ChatGPT alternatives that offer automated app development.
1. Claude actually understands what I'm saying.
I’m not a complete AI newbie, but I don’t explore the ChatGPT GPT store in my spare time either. I’m more of an intermediate user — I know the response I want, but I’m not always sure what the exact prompt is to get it.
ChatGPT often made me feel like I needed to learn more about scripting or use a custom GPT to get the kind of responses I needed. I had to write longer prompts and sometimes have it play a character before I got satisfactory responses.
My colleague noted that Claude was better at creative writing than ChatGPT in his article “Why You Should Consider Switching from ChatGPT to Claude.” However, it was amazing to see this in real life. Claude is now the intelligent chatbot I use to write emails and other creative writing tasks.
2. Claude's programming experience is more interactive.
One area where Claude really shines is in the interactive programming environment, thanks to the Artifact feature. Let’s say I wanted to create a basic Tic-tac-toe game using JavaScript. With ChatGPT, I’d get a snippet of code that I had to copy and paste into my environment to see the results.
However, Claude offers a much smoother experience. With Claude, I can see a live preview of the game right in his Artifact window.
If I want to change the win alert to something more exciting, add a reset button, or modify the game logic, I can just ask Claude to make those changes. I can also switch between the preview and code view to inspect the code before using it in my project.
This real-time interaction is not only useful for programming tasks, but it’s also great for understanding how different parts of code work together. I can also ask Claude to explain any part of the code, and he can show me the effects of the changes instantly. Check out how to use Anthropic’s new Claude 3 text prompts library.
3. Claude supports document previews.
If you’re like me, you often need to export your chat summaries as PDF or doc for reference purposes. When using ChatGPT, I have to first download the export file and then open it locally to see what it looks like.
However, my experience with Claude was different. Instead of simply providing me with a download link, Claude previews the file in its Artifact window. Here, I can see what the export file looks like.
This is what I get when I use the same prompt on ChatGPT:
But it gets even better. Let's say I want the form to include more details about a particular section, I can simply ask it to do so, and voila — it creates a new version of the document.
Being able to preview and enhance documents without leaving the chat window saves a lot of time and is a major reason why I continue to use Claude. For now at least.
ChatGPT is still a powerful tool, and I haven’t completely abandoned it. But for my day-to-day needs, I find myself turning to Claude more often. It seems to understand the nuances of my prompts better, makes coding more interactive, and simplifies how I capture and organize ideas.
Is Claude perfect? Of course not. It has its quirks and limitations. But for someone who uses AI tools regularly, Claude has often proven to be more suitable. Check out our Copilot vs. Copilot Pro comparison: How do they differ? And should you upgrade?
