Officially, you can't install Windows 11 on ineligible hardware due to hardware requirements for Secure Boot and TPM. However, there are two easy solutions that will allow you to upgrade your old Windows 10 PC to Windows 11. Or if you want to install Windows 11 on your device but are having trouble with spec compatibility, don't worry. Although Microsoft has set specific requirements to run Windows 11, there are methods you can use to bypass these restrictions and install the system on unsupported devices. Check out how to install Windows 11 on an old PC.
1. Skip TPM and Secure Scan using Command Prompt
You can upgrade your incompatible Windows 10 PC to Windows 11 using a simple command line trick. Before you get started, make a backup of your Windows computer so you can undo the changes if something goes wrong.
To get started, download the latest Windows 11 ISO to your computer. I recommend using the Media Creation Tool to download the ISO, as it will automatically detect the correct language preference to match your current installation. If there is a mismatch, the upgrade option will be blacked out. Once the ISO file is ready, right-click on the ISO file and choose Mount.
Then, open File Explorer, select the mounted drive in the left pane, and note the drive letter assigned to it. If you double-click on the drive where it is mounted, you can see its contents, including the setup.exe file.
Finally, click on the Start menu and type cmdand click Command Prompt from the results. In the command prompt window, type the following command:
G:\setup /product server
replace G:\
Enter the drive letter assigned to the installed drive and press Enter.
When the warning dialog box appears, click employmentthen click Yes. This will run Windows Server setup, which is completely normal.
On the next screen, click Change how setup downloads updates And choose not now. Under Choose what to keep, select Keep files, settings, and apps to install Windows 11 without deleting your apps. If not, click None. Then click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Bypass Secure Boot and TPM check using Rufus
Rufus is a popular third-party bootable installation media creation app with built-in options to remove Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 requirements for Windows 11 installation. To create a bootable USB media, you need the latest Windows 11 ISO, so keep it handy.
Start downloading Rufus From the official website. Extract the zip file and double click to run Rufus.exe. Then, connect the USB drive to your computer and wait for Rufus to detect it.
In Rufus, click Select, then select the ISO file you downloaded. Leave all options default, then click Start.
Select the first two options in the Windows User Experience dialog box, as shown in the screenshot below. Feel free to go through the other options to select or deselect them according to your preference.
Click OK and wait for the copying process to complete. Once finished, you can use the installation media to cleanly install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
Install future Windows 11 updates by modifying the ISO file
One of the main issues with installing Windows 11 on ineligible devices is that it will not receive security features or updates. But there is an alternative solution.
You can install future updates using the Command Prompt method we discussed above. Make sure you download the ISO image of the version of Windows 11 you want to upgrade to, and then run setup.exe using the setup /product server command.
If that doesn't work, you can edit the contents of the appraiserres.dll file in the ISO image and then run Setup to perform an upgrade. To get started, download and install the latest Windows 11 ISO.
Since we can't edit the contents of the ISO image directly, we first need to copy the files to a new folder. So, double click to open the mounted drive in file explorer. You'll see it in the left pane at the bottom of This PC. Then, press Ctrl + A
To select all files.
Create a new folder named Windows 11 Update and paste the copied content into it. Once finished, right-click on the mounted drive and choose Eject.
Open the Windows 11 Updates folder, go to the Sources folder, and locate the appraiser.dll file. Right click on it and choose فتح باستخدام -> "المفكرة"
.
In Notepad, tap Ctrl + A
To select all content, press Backspace
To delete it, then press Ctrl + S
To save the file. Now, go back to the Windows 11 Update folder and run the setup.exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. Check out Here's the easiest way to reinstall Windows 11 and fix issues.
What happens if I install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware?
Although you can install Windows 11 on your unsupported computer, you still need to know a few things. First, your computer likely won't receive future updates from Microsoft — including security updates. While a world where Microsoft doesn't send out update notifications every few days may seem like a fun time, these annoying updates go a long way in keeping your computer secure.
Note that Microsoft warns of compatibility and stability issues on unsupported devices. For example, you'll likely see a persistent “System requirements not met” message on your desktop or in Settings. However, you can remove this watermark using the registry trick.
Since Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 after October 2025, it may be best to install Windows 11 and continue installing the latest updates using these workarounds for as long as possible. Now you can learn how to install and set up Windows 11 without an Internet connection.
